The Best Of See It Market – Zig, Zag, Rinse, Repeat (March 2015)

bull bear stocksMarch was a tricky month for active investors, as the exhuberance from February dwindled after the first trading day of March. Since that time, the S&P 500 has played ping pong within a wedge formation. For the month, the S&P 500 was down 1.74%. This sort of up and down price action isn’t new to investors. In fact, if you look at the past 4 or 5 months, it’s pretty much par for the course. So after a down January, up February, and down March… the S&P 500 ended the first quarter up 0.4%.

And April is up thus far… zig, zag, zig, zag. Rinse, repeat.

Digging a little deeper, there have been some really interesting battles going on in the rotation game amongst stocks, bonds, and commodities. And much of it due to the ongoing global currency wars. Stocks appear to be tied to global capital flows, while the bond market is staying elevated with the help of some unspectacular economic data. Also, the US Dollar finally let off the gas pedal, allowing commodities to catch a bid (and Emerging Markets). April should be fun!

But those observations only scratch the surface. There was so much more going on in the markets and much of it was captured on See It Market.
