After ending a very bullish 2013 on the highs, the market hit some turbulence in January. All told, the S&P 500 came out of the gates with a 3.6% loss. January also saw the Volatility Index (VIX) perk up, with many stocks flashing red. The bright side? Perhaps the added volatility will offer some short-term trading setups and opportunities for nimble investors.
During the month, See It Market put out a lot of excellent research and analysis. Some articles focused on the year ahead, while others provided key insights into the global marketplace. A few highlights: Chris Burba’s post on avoiding Emerging Markets, Alex Bernal’s look at Yield Curves, and Andrew Kassen’s behavioral finance posts, to name a few. Robert Lesnicki and myself also offered some focused chart analysis, calling attention to retail weakness in early January and highlighting key trading levels on the S&P 500.
Okay, let’s get on with it. It’s time to reflect on the best blogs for the month of January in the latest installment of The Best of See It Market. As always, thank you for your readership and support.
